Healthy but Hearty Choices

Get excited because Local Green serves up healthy versions of good ol’ comfort food.

Go meatless with “Bubba Sparxx,” a barbecue sandwich made of jackfruit, and a kale and quinoa wrap called the “Badu.” Or swap beef for salmon with the “Rappers Delight,” a creative take on the classic Philly cheesesteak.

Notice a theme? The dishes’ names are a nod to co-founder Zachary “Big Zak” Wallace’s love of music. More on that in a minute. In addition to Local Green’s flavorful entrées, customers can enjoy Mexican street corn, air-fried potatoes, and smoothies. The food truck also has a kids’ meal that features a Beyond Burger.

About Local Green’s Founders

Local Green was founded by songwriter and producer Zachary Wallace and his wife, Robyn, who works in public health.

Wallace is known for co-writing the platinum hit “Goodies” for Ciara. He has also composed songs for Keri Hilson, Nelly, CeeLo Green, and Nate Dogg. His music career gave Wallace chances to travel, but his busy schedule made it hard to make nutritious meals. During a trip to San Francisco, however, he realized that healthy eating didn’t have to be difficult or time consuming. Wallace was struck by how easy it was to find healthy options in California.

Wallace returned to Atlanta determined to change his eating habits.

A Menu with a Mission

Food deserts are neighborhoods that lack access to fresh food. They are common in the west side of Atlanta.

Wallace decided adopting a healthier diet shouldn’t be only for him. He wanted to make it easy for others in Atlanta to do the same. Robyn, who had done research on food deserts, cared deeply about this cause.

The two decided to bring healthy comfort food to the west side community of Vine City. Atlanta residents flocked to their food truck.

The truck was so successful that the Wallaces soon opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant. The brand became known across the U.S. after Oprah named its shrimp as one of her favorite healthy options in Atlanta.

The Orlando food truck is Local Green’s first location outside Georgia.
